How do we give voice to our inspiration so that it communicates its essential nature? Where does inspiration come from? Shambhala Art's purpose is to explore the creative process and art from the viewpoint of a meditative discipline. It is a viewpoint that encourages us to see things as they are, rather than how we think or imagine them to be.
Shambhala Art is an education program based on the Dharma Art teachings of the late Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the founder of Shambhala International, and Naropa University. Though inspired by Shambhala Buddhism, the Dharma Art teachings are not religious or about adopting a religion. They are about discovery and play, and the universal nature of creativity and communication.
During the weekend program, we will work individually and collaboratively to explore the creative process and the product we call art. The program will include meditation, talks and discussion, movement, and creative exercises that can be put into practice within your life or any artistic discipline. Join us for the first two parts of a five-part curriculum that is being offered in the SF Bay Area in the upcoming months. Parts Three, Four, and Five will be taught by Acharya Arawana Hayashi in San Francisco January 11- 13, 2013. Parts One and Two are prerequisites for attending the program with Acharya Hayashi.
